Looks great. Is the 3G service optional?
How would pdf manuals that I bought online publishers (manning,apress) look on it. Do I have the option of reading in landscape mode?

let me try to answer some of your questions:
it’s not a pipe dream, there will be a non 3G version as well, lanscape reading is possible (and usefull for PDF) and it will flip orientation automatically.
Available in the U.S.? How much will it cost?

Ok, das mit dem Trackback muss ich noch üben.
Bei Bedarf den ersten Post von mir löschen.
Ich suche schon lange nach einem Reader den ich selber befüllen kann zu einem sinnvollen Preis. Ich muss Texte selber reinschieben können. Txt, pdf, html und vielleicht nocht rtf, odt…
Vielleicht könnt ihr da noch mit Projekt Gutenberg eine Abmachung treffen, dass man deren Material in einem geeigneten Format zur Verfügung stellen kann fürs Laden auf SD Karte.
Für Wikipedia fehlt wohl eine Eingabemöglichkeit für die Suche.
Leider wurden Gewicht und Dicke noch nicht gesagt und zu wenig zum Bedienparadigma.
WiFi und LAN und GPRS und Text-Sharing sind für mich da nur nette Zugaben.
Wow, da habt ihr ja mal ne Bombe platzen lassen. Super Konzept und geiler Reader.
Ich hab 2 Fragen:
- Wird es in Zukunft eine Art Datenflatrate für das Gerät geben oder wird ausschließlich ein Modem im Gerät bereitgestellt.
- Wie soll die Bedienung des Shops auf dem Reader funktionieren. Auswahl bzw. Suche nach Büchern
Warum werden die Reader immer mit unnützem Firlefanz zugepflastert?
Eine USB Verbindung reicht völlig. GPRS? Bluetooth? Braucht keiner, man stöpselt eh per USB an, weil der Reader damit auch gleich geladen wird.
Gibts eine LED Beleuchtung für das Display? Wenn nicht, warum nicht? Es ist nervig, wenn man immer eine externe Lichtquelle braucht, um zu lesen.
Bislang ist der Nintendo DS mit Libris der beste e-book reader, wenn man das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis betrachtet.
Für 149 Euro bekommt man keinen, auch nur ansatzweise, besseren Reader. Schaden wenn man bedenkt, dass wir im Jahr 2009 leben.
Das Gerät ist hochinteressant. Kann ich mich irgendwo eintragen, um auf dem Laufenden gehalten zu werden?

I’m looking for a way to carry all my technical books with me all the time. How is the support for PDF, HTML and other links in the text (for table of contents, index, glossary)? How is the navigation in general? Can I jump to page 157 directly?
I, frankly speaking, do not need all those wireless gadgets. Will there be a version without them?

Ich habe hier den Sony 505 und finde den Schirm einfach zu klein um A5 PDFs ordentlich lesen zu können.
Ob das Teil auch ohne SIM-Karte, ABO, etc. funktioniert?
Please don’t fuck it up. Seriously. I’ve been waiting for years for a very good eBook. So please – quick page flipping, open to various document formats, wireless, long lasting battery, small in size and weight. everything else is negotiable. :-)

Wie sieht es mit der Unterstützung von Ebooks im Mobipocket-Format aus?
How about the PDF support? The rest of ereaders has a problem with pdf format
If this is going to be released in the US with ample support, I’ll wait. In the meantime, my Kindle 1 will suffice. What will be the cost? What will be the availability of best sellers and newspapers? I read the NYTimes on my Kindle now.

As someone mentioned None need those 3G/ GPRS/ bluetooth gadgets….
If any, wireless is more than enough. They are getting better value worth… I don’t want better value I want something I can read. the method I get the data in there is minimal. I just plug it to my PC and I copy / install 400 books. I’m happy!
I honestly think that all this mobile gadgets are useless.
I would really prefer to have a ebook reader without all this that cost less.
Today’s prices are ridiculous from my point of view. It is not a laptop, it is not a mobile! IT is just a book How hard is that?
Concentrate on providing the user with easiness to read an ebook.
I will not buy this to surf the web or download a book everytime i read it. I honestly get more impressed with the number of formats a e-book can process than the gadgets it has to donwload.
Stop making hybrids (half-ebook/netbook/mobile)
