New txtr.com version: Korowjew

von ronnie (20.4.2009)

Last week we released “Korowjew”, txtr.com’s fourth beta. We fixed some of the most annoying things: First of all, we now have fullscreen document viewing, and viewing documents is faster. Documents that haven’t been converted for web viewing tell you how long it will probably take before they display, and since the uploader code has been fixed, we’re also completely Linux-ready now.

And of course, there’s the new start page, featuring public text collections that we like. We’ll feature your content if it’s nice and free, so go ahead, create some collections and tell us about them.

In case you wondered where the beta names come from: They’re all from Michail Bulgakows wonderful novel “Master and Margarita” (a german sample can be found here) — Asasello, Gella, Behemoth and Korowjew are the assistants of a certain Mr. Voland, who, to say the least, is quite a baddie. His assistants sport a very appealing sense of humor, though.

    Where can I find the Linux-ready Upload-Tool? I just found a Windows- and a Mac-Version:http://txtr.com/install/uploader

  2. Sorry — we re-implemented the uploading functionality on the website so it works with Linux now. We didn’t have time to make a Linux version of the Upload tool yet.

By the way, the API our uploader uses is quite straightforward (see http://txtr.com/reaktor/) — if someone from the Linux community would be willing to write a nice uploader, we’d certainly help with support and add it to the tools section…
