Announcing txtr content partners and reader release date
We just published a new press release (see below) and since it’s in German I’ll give you the main points in English here:
Content: We’re about to launch the txtr bookstore, our ebook download store. We’re proud and happy that we could win the best ebook suppliers in the German-language market, among them Libri Digital, Ciando, and Libreka. For English-language content, we will initially work with Ingram Digital and extend the offer over time. This should bring us to a total of 200.000 available commercial titles at the launch of the store, later this summer. Together with our free content partnerships including Project Gutenberg, Munsey’s or ManualsMania, we will shortly be offering more than a million documents on the platform.
Txtr reader: We’re working hard on the finalization of our reading device – the release date will be 14 October 2009, at the Frankfurt book fair.

Liebe txtr (reader)-Macher,
kaum eigennützig will ich euch zu folgendem drängen: ich will morgens mit sehr wenigen Schritten der reader dazu nötigen, über WLAN die aktuelle (digi)taz (http://www.taz.de/digitaz/.digiabo) von taz.de/epub manuell herunterzuladen, damit ich sie nach dem Duschen mit in die Bahn nehmen kann :D Also: Eine Tageszeitungs-Funktion, bei der ich die URL von der aktuellen epub (mit HTTP-Auth) angeben kann, und die neueste Ausgabe problemlos gespeichert wird. Im Reader.
Wie auch immer, ich drücke die Daumen für ein wirklich tolles Produkt! (Und hoffe, dass es beim Releasedatum bleibt)
Das mit Bluetooth ist im Übrigen total klasse – wenn das wirklich so offen wird wie versprochen, ist es hoffentlich nur eine Frage der Zeit, bis es eine Vorlesen-Funktion gibt, die über Bluetooth Audio funktioniert.
